Sketching a curve is fast. Turning that sketch into an equation you can actually use is not — and that gap is the entire reason Graphiti exists.
The annoyance that started it
If you draw a wobbly circle or an arcing line on paper, you know instantly what it "is." Turning that intuition into a usable formula is a different skill entirely: you have to already suspect the shape's family (line? parabola? sine wave?) before curve-fitting tools are any help at all. That's backwards. The drawing already contains the information — a good search process should be able to find the equation without you naming the family first. That's what symbolic regression is built to do, and it's the engine we wanted behind a drawing app.
What "solving" means to us
The easy version of this product would always report back a triumphant, high-confidence match — that's flashier, and nobody double-checks a percentage on a fun app. We built the opposite on purpose: Graphiti says when a fit is rough, prefers a simple honest equation over a needlessly complicated one that scores a fraction higher, and never dresses up a mediocre match as a perfect one. A mathgram is more fun when you can trust the number on it.
A domain with its own history
Worth saying plainly, since it's a natural question: graphiti.xyz isn't a brand-new domain. It previously belonged to an unrelated data-visualization startup that didn't make it — the company was dissolved and formally struck off the register some time ago, and the domain lapsed back onto the open market, where we picked it up. We have no affiliation with that earlier company, and nothing on this site describes their product or history beyond this note. We just liked that the name already meant "drawing" and "graph" at once.
Where things stand right now
Graphiti hasn't launched. This site exists to explain the idea clearly, show honest example equations, and give people a way to hear about it first. If any of that resonates, the waitlist is the way to find out when it's ready.
